Mission Statement
CLK
Multifamily Management is committed to environmental awareness and
energy conservation. It is our responsibility to take steps
to make our communities more environmentally friendly by using all
necessary resources available to us. These steps include, but
are not limited to, installing water saving devices, participating
in trash recycling programs where available, and purchasing
appliances with the Energy Star rating.
Not only
is CLK committed to making our communities more environmentally
friendly, but CLK also believes in continually educating both team
members and residents. It is everyone’s collective job
to minimize the environmental impact that we cause each and every
day.
By
educating ourselves and our residents and taking necessary steps to
reduce our carbon footprint, CLK is taking a stand in strengthening
and protecting the environment for a greener
tomorrow.
CLK has proudly joined the
“green movement” with the introduction of the CLK Green
Team. We want to encourage our residents to share our mission
of energy conservation, the rewards of which are not simply
environmentally beneficial, as energy saving alternatives and
techniques also provide cost savings on monthly utility
bills.
Helpful Tips to Conserve Energy and Cut
Utility Bill Costs
Thermostat
Settings/HVAC:
During
winter/cold months, simply lowering your thermostat by 3 degrees
(i.e. from 71° to 68°) can result in a near 10 percent
savings on your monthly utility bill. Each 1° drop for an
eight-hour period reduces your fuel bill by approximately 1
percent.
When no
one is home, raising or lowering the thermostat (depending on the
season) can bring additional savings.
During summer months, avoid
setting your thermostat at a colder setting than normal when you
turn on your air conditioner. Turning the thermostat below
your normal temperature will not expedite the cooling of your
apartment. Instead, excessive cooling and unnecessary expense
will result.
The
CLK maintenance team regularly changes HVAC filters in order to
ensure efficient and effective system operation.
Ensure
that returns are not blocked by furniture in order to promote
optimum air circulation.
Drawing
the blinds/curtains can assist in insulating the apartment from
outside temperatures.
Lighting/Electronics:
When
exiting a room for an extended period of time, remember to turn off
unnecessary lighting.
Choose
Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs) with the Energy Star label
when replacing incandescent bulbs. CFLs can lead to long term
cost savings since they are long lasting (about 6 to 12 times
longer than standard bulbs) and require less energy in usage.
Please check home fixtures prior to changing to CFLs to ensure
compatibility.
Turn off
electronics, such as computers and entertainment devices, when not
in use, as these devices continue to consume electricity even when
not being actively used. For convenience, use a power strip
to allow for all plugged-in devices to be turned off simply with
one button.
Water:
The
average person in the U.S. uses 140-170 gallons of water per day,
and the average household spends as much as $500 per year on the
water and sewer bill.
Turning
off the water when brushing your teeth can save 4 gallons of water
per minute. That’s 200 gallons a week for a family of
four. Turn off the water when you shave and save up to 300
gallons a month.
Shorten
your shower by a minute or two and save up to 150 gallons of water
per month.
Run your
clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. By
doing so, you can save up to 1,000 gallons of water per
month.
For hand
dish washing:
Rather than using a continuous stream of
water, fill sink or dishpan with water and turn off faucet to wash
dishes. By doing so, you will save water wasted in leaving
the faucet running.
